NCAA Honors Alcorn as Nation’s Sacks Champion

LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University football program earned a plaque from the NCAA which acknowledged the Braves as the 2018 FCS statistical champion in sacks per game.

Alcorn recorded 4.0 sacks per game - it was the most by any team in the country, FBS or FCS.

Defensive linemen Sterling Shippy and Terry Whittington solidified spots on the All-Conference First-Team, as well as linebacker Solomon Muhammad. Shippy was also tabbed to the AFCA FCS All-America Second-Team. Shippy, Whittington and Muhammad combined for 21 sacks.

In addition to sacks, the Alcorn defense was top-five nationally in total yards, rushing and tackles for a loss per game.
