Vicksburg Native Lockridge Signs with Alcorn Softball Program

LORMAN, Miss. – The first addition to the future of the Alcorn State University softball program was announced Tuesday with the signing of Kelsey Lockridge.

Lockridge will arrive at Alcorn in the Fall of 2019. The utility player comes from Vicksburg, Mississippi and Warren Central HS.

"Kelsey will add some versatility to our team. She can play a lot of different positions," said Alcorn head coach Josef Rankin. "It's great to get a player from our community in Vicksburg. Kelsey comes from an outstanding family and she has done a great job in classroom. We are very excited to welcome her into our program!"

At Warren Central, Lockridge hit for a .457 batting average with 32 homers, 176 hits and 97 RBI's. She'll have four years of eligibility at Alcorn.

Lockridge was named the 2018 Vicksburg Post Softball Player of the Year. She helped the Lady Vikes reach the MHSAA 6A Playoffs.
