Josias Jean Earns Trip To NCAA Regionals In 400M Hurdles

Schedule of Events

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Alcorn State University men's track and field program is sending sophomore Josias Jean to the NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Championships, hosted by the University of North Florida and Jacksonville Sports Council from May 23-25.

A Florida native, Jean finished in fourth place during the SWAC Championships two weekends ago while posting a personal-record time of 52.26 in the 400m hurdles.

"Jean was committed and determined to make it back to his home state of Florida, to compete in the Eastern Regional NCAA qualifying meet," said head coach Fermon Tate.

This is the second consecutive outdoor season in which the Braves have sent an athlete to the NCAA Regionals as Bralon Robinson ran the 100-meter dash last season in Tampa, Florida.

Josias Jean will compete in the first round of the 400m hurdles at 4:00 p.m. central time on Thursday, May 23 and would participate in the quarterfinals at 6:15 p.m. central time on Friday, May 24 if he qualifies.

The 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held June 5-8 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
