Braves Ranked No. 2 in Preseason HBCU Poll, Receiving Votes in Preseason FCS Poll

LORMAN, Miss. – A pair of national preseason polls came out Monday, and the Alcorn State University football program was ranked No. 2 in the Preseason HBCU Poll, and received votes in the Preseason STATS FCS Poll.
 
The Braves brought back eight starters on offense and seven on defense from a team that won the SWAC last year and played in the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl.
 
Alcorn has the SWAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, SWAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, 14 Preseason All-Conference selections, four Preseason FCS All-Americans, two student-athletes on the Walter Payton Award Watch List, one on the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List and the best running back in the SWAC according to HBCU Gameday.
