LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Alcorn State University cross country teams saw Titus Kibii and Makayla Gates post the fastest times as Coach Tate's crew continues to steadily improve.

"Makayla Gates and Titus Kibii led their respective squads at McNeese today," said head coach Fermon Tate. "Both teams ran well and we will look forward to continued improvement with SWAC Championships around the corner."

The Braves ran in the four-mile while the Lady Braves participated in the 5K.

For the Braves, redshirt junior Titus Kibii was spectacular in his second career meet, pacing the Braves with a 25:00.9 and finishing in 65th place. Senior Tyreq Miles was not far behind at 25:19.2 while junior Peterson Saint-Cyrin had his season-long streak of having the lowest time among Braves runners snapped, he still was in the top-three with a 25:11.9.

Sophomore Elliot Pak (28:07.5), junior Josias Jean (29:42.3), sophomore Javon Rutledge (32:25.3) and sophomore Ashton DeFreeze (38:29.6) all finished their races as well.

The men finished 11th with a total of 343 points, placing ahead of Louisiana College with an average time of 26:41.

Sophomore Makayla Gates remains the quickest Lady Brave as she topped the team for the third consecutive meet with a low time of 22:03.0 and a 54th place finish. Junior Hali Jones came in second among her teammates in a time of 24:35.3.

Sophomore Kiana Allen (26:12.0), senior Tymesha Nabors (26.12.6) and freshman Char'davia Anderson (26.13.1) all completed the race within 1.1 seconds of each other to round out the morning.

The women placed 14th with 369 points and averaged a time of 25:04.

Both teams will wrap up the regular season on October 11 at the Lois Davis Invitational hosted by Southern Arkansas University. The meet begins at 5:30 p.m. with the women's 5K followed by the men's 8K at 6 p.m.
