JACKSON, Miss. – The Alcorn State University women's tennis program was ahead in a pair of singles matches, but was topped by Southern 4-0 on Saturday at Parham Bridges Tennis Center.

The Lady Braves are now 1-1 in conference after beating Mississippi Valley State 4-0 yesterday.

Alcorn led at both No. 1 and No. 4 singles. At the No. 1 position, senior
Alessandra Maganuco was up a set 6-3, 3-3. Freshman
Tangia Riley-Codrington was also up a set at the No. 4 spot 7-5, 0-2.

At No. 2 singles, sophomore
Stefany Grlj was battling and was in front in the second set 3-1 after dropping the first 6-3.

Both the men and women will wrap-up the first of two SWAC Round-Ups when they face Alabama A&M at 1 p.m. at the JSU Tennis Courts.
