Alcorn Concludes SWAC Round-Up with Losses to AAMU, Dini Records Unbeaten Weekend

JACKSON, Miss. – The Alcorn State University men's and women's tennis program finished its first of two SWAC Round-Ups over the weekend, as the Braves fell 4-1 and the Lady Braves 4-0 to Alabama A&M on Sunday at the JSU Tennis Courts.
 
Freshman Lucas Dini capped off a big weekend for the men as he won 6-4, 6-0 over Rodrigo Arana Rios. It came after he won 6-0, 6-0 over Mississippi Valley State and is now 2-0 in conference in singles.
 
Senior Gjorgji Popovski nearly turned in a 2-0 weekend as well, but came one game short of finishing his match Sunday. He led 6-1, 5-4 when AAMU clinched the overall match.
 
Though, Popovski did pick-up a doubles win against the Bulldogs. Partnering with sophomore Santiago Rocca, the duo won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
 
On the women's side, freshman Tangia Riley-Codrington was up a set 6-4, 0-1 when her match at No. 4 singles went unfinished.
 
Both the men and women will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Mississippi College for a 2 p.m. road match.
