LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University marching band – the Sounds Of Dyn-O-Mite – was pleasantly surprised when they opened an unexpected shipment from adidas.
Â
Without even placing an order, the band opened adidas boxes sent to campus that were filled with custom made shoes exclusively for the band members.
Â
"It was a total surprise for the staff and the kids. We received a call that we had a shipment waiting for us, and when we opened the boxes and saw all the shoes we didn't even know if they were for us. We made a call to our adidas representative and they said they wanted to do something special for the band and they appreciate our partnership," said Dr. Everson Martin, director of band at Alcorn. "We were excited and we're grateful for their initiative."
Â
The band will be showcasing the shoes for the first time over a series of performances during Mardi Gras parades in February. Over 400 pairs of shoes were sent by adidas.

Â
"We are very appreciative of adidas and the way they've enhanced the experiences of our band and student-athletes. A gift like this demonstrates the amount they value our University and goes a long way in supporting our band," said director of athletics
Derek Horne. "We want to send a wholehearted thank you to adidas."
