Pringle Named Best Student-Athlete in FCS to Wear No. 82

LORMAN, Miss. – HERO Sports ranked its best student-athletes to wear every jersey number in FCS for the upcoming 2020 season, and senior LeCharles Pringle from the Alcorn State University football program was tabbed the top No. 82 in the nation.

Pringle, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) president, is Alcorn's top returning wide receiver, statistically. He's coming off a big 2019 year where he tied the all-time school record for receiving touchdowns in a season with 14, which also led the SWAC and ranked fourth in the FCS.

The Gautier, Mississippi native was named the 2019 SWAC Championship Offensive MVP after hauling in a career-high 145 yards and a touchdown in the win over Southern. He finished the year with 828 receiving yards.

Pringle caught three touchdowns in two different games against Mississippi Valley State and Alabama A&M. He also tallied 144 receiving yards and a score against Prairie View A&M.

"LeCharles stepped up his game this past season. He really came out of nowhere and played exceptionally well. He did everything the coaches asked him to do and always did everything the right way," said Alcorn head coach Fred McNair. "LeCharles is a leader for us at that position. He's a smart kid with a high football IQ, and we have high expectations for him this upcoming year."

Pringle and the Braves will open the 2020 campaign on the road at Auburn on Saturday, Sept. 5.
