Driver, McNair Nominated for Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021

LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn graduates Donald Driver and Steve McNair were a part of the list of modern-era nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021.
 
Driver (Class of 1999) and McNair (Class of 1995) are among 130 nominees, which will be reduced to 25 semifinalists in November and 15 finalists in January.
 
Driver is the all-time leading receiver with the Green Bay Packers and was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in July 2017. He was a seventh-round pick in the 1997 NFL Draft.
 
Driver caught 743 passes for 10,137 yards and 61 touchdowns over 205 games in his historic 14-year professional career with the same team. Driver was also a member of the Packers team who defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV (45) in 2011.
 
Driver was a two-sport athlete at Alcorn. In addition to his football accomplishments, he's the current school record holder in both the men's high jump (2.30m) and long jump (7.75m) in outdoor track & field.
 
McNair, who had a stellar career with the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens, led the Titans to an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIV (34). He is the Titans' all-time leading passer with 31,304 yards. McNair was selected to the NFL Pro Bowl three times and was the 2003 NFL Co-Most Valuable Player. He was drafted third overall in the 1995 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers.
 
McNair was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame during its 50th Anniversary Induction Banquet in June 2016. The Titans retired his number on Sept. 15, 2019.
 
McNair remains as the FCS all-time passing leader with 14,496 yards. He was named one of college football's 150 greatest of all-time by ESPN.
