VICKSBURG, Miss. –  The Alcorn State University softball program earned its first victory of the year, defeating Tuskegee (6-5) before losing the next two versus Spring Hill (5-0) and Tennessee State (6-1).
The Lady Braves (1-4, 0-0 SWAC) drew first blood but proceeded to secede six unanswered runs to Tennessee State in a 6-1 setback.
The Purple and Gold could muster all of two hits in the ballgame, both courtesy of
Chloey Morgan who also showed off her speed on the basepaths with a stolen base.

Alcorn tied up the all-time series at one to one.

The Badgers have beaten the Lady Braves in both of its meetings between the programs.

Game 3: Tennessee State 6, Alcorn 1
The opening frame looked promising enough for Alcorn as
Marsha Hunt scampered home on a throwing error to stake an early 1-0 advantage.
The second inning came and went without either side touching the plate before the Tigers awoke.
TSU's Ivory Jones opened the scoring for the Blue and White with a two-RBI double in the third which would turn out to be all Tennessee State would need, registering three runs each in the third and fourth to seal the victory.
Tennessee State's Raven Loveless (1-3) got her first win of the year, completely shutting the Lady Braves down from the get-go while surrendering zero earned runs and two hits while striking out five in a complete game masterpiece.
Brenn Ursin (0-1) picked up the loss, allowing five earned runs with three punchouts.
TSU has now won 75% of its games against Alcorn all-time, winning three-of-four meetings between the programs.
Coach Rankin and the Lady Braves wrap-up the River City Classic against Miles College at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Sports Force Parks.
