MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alcorn State University women's tennis program logged nothing but zeroes in the loss column against Mississippi Valley, routing the ladies from Itta Bena by a score of 5-0 in the second SWAC Pod.
The Lady Braves (3-11, 2-4 SWAC) defeated Grambling State in seven (4-3) during SWAC Pod #1 hosted by Southern but followed it up with a tough defeat against Jackson State (5-0).

The Purple and Gold dropped the first set of the pod but stormed back to take the doubles point as the teams of #2

Stefany Grlj clipped India Woods/Camila Ruiz Diaz (6-3) and Ximena Duarte Ramirez/Nthabiseng Mashego (6-4), respectively.
#6 Grlj made easy work of Woods in singles competition (6-1, 6-2) while #3 Zholdakyeva went the full three sets but ultimately prevailed over Duarte Ramirez (6-2, 6-0, 6-2).
Fifth-slotted
Kimberley Kaome took Neha Ghare down to the wire, falling by a count of 6-4, 7-5, 6-2.
Match 2 vs. Mississippi Valley State | W (4-0)
A common theme was found all over the scoresheet in Alcorn's match with MVSU; 6-0.
All six pairings during both doubles action and singles play ended in the same fashion with a goose egg in the loss department for Coach Moore's ladies.
The pair of #1 Kaome/
Tangia Riley-Codrington defeated Jeremyia Merrit/Jacqueline Leflore, #2 Konstantinova/Zholdakyeva swept Ambra Stanley/Jazzalyn Miller while #3 Edwards/Grlj made quick work of the Carters.
During singles action, Edwards defeated Stanley, Kaome took down Carter and Grlj dispatched Leflore.
Match 3 vs. Southern | L (4-1)
Match number three saw the second-slot earn a victory in the doubles as Konstantinova/Zholdakyeva beat Shaeda Nickle/Takalani Molaoa (6-2) but SUBR took the doubles point.
Zholdakyeva was on the winning side of both set victories against the Lady Jags, coming away victorious in singles play opposite Sasha Taruberekera in the third position (6-0, 6-1).
The sixth-slotted Grlj was the only Lady Brave to go the full three sets during singles, falling to Nandi Munyulwa by a score of 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.
Match 4 vs. Prairie View A&M | L (4-0)
The fourth and final match of the pod ended in a straight sweep for the Lady Panthers.

Aizat Zholdakyeva were tied with Salma Villalobos/Jimena Castellanos in doubles play before the match was halted while Konstantnova was ahead of Castellanos 1-0 in the second after dropping the first game when the match concluded.
Women's tennis has one more match before the SWAC Championships, a meeting with Alabama State on March 26 at the Sports Force Parks in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
