BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Lady Braves first baseman Marsha Hunt has been named the SWAC Softball Hitter of the Week after her clutch performance and walkoff single against Pine Bluff last Friday.
The sophomore from Philadelphia, Mississippi smacked two of Alcorn's four hits on the afternoon while driving in both of the club's RBIs including bringing home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Purple and Gold a 3-2 win in the conference opener.
A transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Hunt set new season-highs for putouts (9), RBIs (2), hits (2) and assists (1) versus the Lady Lions.
The Lady Braves return to action this weekend for a three-game series at Texas Southern, beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. followed by a Saturday doubleheader starting at noon.
