LORMAN, Miss. –  The Alcorn State University softball program gave up ten unearned runs on five errors as Alabama A&M defeated the Lady Braves 11-3 in six innings at the Alcorn Softball Complex.
The Lady Braves (3-13, 1-4 SWAC) had a rough go offensively, mustering just three runs on three hits and two walks while making several costly mistakes on the basepaths.
Ambria Dorsey pitched a complete game, allowing only one earned run over six innings and whiffing two Lady Bulldogs.
Marsha Hunt provided most of the hitting, going 2-for-3 with the club's lone RBI and scoring once.
Desirea Lindsey contributed a walk and a run scored, Chloey Morgan had a base knock plus Brittney Triplett and Genise Wells drew free passes.
Alabama A&M (7-10, 4-3 SWAC) saw all nine starters log at least one hit with four of them picking up multiple en route to 14 total.
Starting pitcher Esperanza Coe did damage both inside the circle and the box, surrendering three hits and one earned run with six strikeouts on the mound while launching a solo homer to go with an RBI single up the middle to open the scoring.
Haleigh Winter and Dorian Edwards combined for four RBI, three hits and two runs scored to go along with a double by Rachael McKinney to highlight the top offensive performers for the Maroon and White.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 60-31 against the Purple and Gold.
Alcorn will honor its three fifth-year seniors – Dorsey, Triplett and Alexsis Ramirez – at 12:25 p.m. on the field tomorrow before the first of two starting at 1 p.m.
