Alcorn State Women's and Men's basketball earn a sweep of Alabama A&M Bulldogs

 

 

HUNTSVILLE, AL.  

Alabama A&M didn't do Alcorn State Braves any favors Saturday. 

 

The Alcorn State women's basketball team put on a clinic in a 61-59 victory against the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, Jan. 8.

The Lady Braves locked in defensively and limited The Lady Bulldogs to just about 50 percent shooting from the field.  

The Lady Braves led wire-to-wire and controlled a lead with at least three players over double scoring. Freshman guard Zy'nyia White paced the Lady Bulldogs with twelve points in the frame, while Seniors, Tyginae Wright and, Diamond Hall each tallied. The Lady Braves forced sixteen turnovers with Seven Steals. 

Alcorn State Lady Braves forced Alabama A&M to a ( 2-1 ) first SWAC conference loss and The lady Braves' ( 1-1 ) First win of the season. 

" I am Very Proud of this young team to go on the road and beat a good program like Alabama A&M shows that their hard work is paying off. Tonight Against Alabama Stata we must continue that hard working."

The Lady Braves are back on the court Tonight, Monday, January 10, at 5:30 p.m., The Three-game road trip Against Alabama State in Montgomery, Alabama. Following the meeting  The Braves head  Home in Lorman, MS  to face the Texas Southern on Saturday, January 15, at 1 p.m. 

 

 

The Alcorn State Men's Basketball Team improved to a 2-0  record with a 78-71 win over Alabama A&M Bulldogs, AL, on Saturday Night in their Second straight road game of the season.

 

The Braves got off to a strong start, pulling out to an early 37-33 lead through the first half, and stayed in that lead With Head Coach Landon Bussie calling Defensive Formations. Reigning the then 2-0 bulldogs to limited scoring 

 

 Keondre Montgomery had a career-high 27 points as Alcorn State topped Alabama A&M. Montgomery hit 9 of 12 shots. Lenell Henry had 13 points for Alcorn State (3-11, 2-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Justin Thomas added 10 points.

"Starting 2-0 is great for our program and gives our team confidence and Montgomery to play Alabama State. We are playing good basketball right now and want to continue with our streak Tonight against Alabama State." Head Coach Landon Bussie Said.
