LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn Cheer took to the court on Saturday, Sept. 24,, as the Braves performed several different maneuvers for the crowd of more than 3,000 at the 2022 High School Day event housed inside the Davey L. Whitney Complex on the campus of Alcorn State University.Â
Â
Under the direction of Head Coach
Asia Thomas, now in her first season at the helm of the program she once cheered for as a student-athlete herself, the Braves Cheer squad held their annual High School and Transfer Day Cheer Clinic in conjunction with Alcorn State and the Department of Athletics.
Â
Cheerleaders from over a dozen high schools and junior colleges joined the Alcorn Cheerleaders for a morning of learning cheers, dances, jumps, stunts and pyramids.
Â
"This was my first event as head cheer coach, and it was an incredible turn out," expressed Thomas. "I am so thankful to have shared our day with this group of talented young people. I know that the future is bright for Alcorn Cheerleading!"
Â
Those who participated also had the opportunity to perform with the Alcorn Cheerleaders during Alcorn's High School Day program.
