LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University football had six players named to the All-Southwestern Athletic Conference First and Second Team on Nov. 27.
Jarveon Howard,
Monterio Hunt,
Tavarious Griffin and
Malachi Bailey were selected for the All-SWAC First Team.
Aaron Allen and
Keenan Leachman picked honors for All-SWAC Second Team.

            Howard earned his first team selection as a running back for his amazing 2023 season performance. He racked up 785 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 71.4 yards. Hunt, a wide receiver, snapped up his spot with 37 catches for 633 yards and four touchdowns in 11. He also averaged 17 yards per catch. The tight end, Griffin, secured his spot with 27 catches for 365 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 13.5 yards per catch.

            Bailey was the lone Brave on the All-SWAC First Team defense. He earned his spot on the awards list with 38 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and nine sacks.

    Alcorn starting quarterback, Allen, was selected for the All-SWAC second team with 194 completions for 2,265 passing yards and 15 touchdowns. He also averaged 205.9 yards per pass. Leachman's position was earned with his stellar performance on defense with 32 total tackles and three interceptions.
