THIBODAUX, La. – The Lady Braves tennis team could not get past Nicholls State as it dropped a 6-1 decision on Tuesday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex. Following the loss, Alcorn falls to 0-4 on the season while The Colonels improve to 3-1.
Nicholls began the match by earning the doubles point after Carla Bouygues, and Dareen Hassan defeated Mikaela Konstantinova and Nicole Kells, 6-3, on court two. The Colonels then clinched the opening point when Laura Lopez and Constanza Cruz topped Aizat Zholdakayeva and Kimberley Kaome. 6-3, in the first spot.
Nicholls then extended its lead to five by claiming the first four points in singles action. The Lady Braves lone point came on court one when Konstantinova defeated Simona Maksimovic, 7-5, 7-5, for her first singles point of the season.
The Colonels claimed the final point of the match on court six by default, as Alcorn was down one player for the 6-1 victory.
The Lady Braves will be back on the courts on Sunday, Feb. 12, when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to take on Southern Miss. The first serves are scheduled for 2 p.m.
