MONROE, La. – Alcorn State University Lady Braves softball hit the diamond against the University of Louisiana-Monroe in a doubleheader on Wednesday evening. ASU fought hard but lost both games with scores of 2-12 and 1-9.
Game 1, 2-12
    In the first game, Alcorn scored two runs on three hits and one error.
Kiri Parker had the lone RBI for the Alcorn State. Parker,
Hannah Miller, and
Kelsey Lockridge went 1-for-2 at bat with Miller and Parker doubling.
    The Warhawks scored 12 runs on nine hits and one error. Carys Platt went 3-of-3 at the plate scored two runs and batted three in. Morgan Brown, Ashlyn Ard, and Jacelyn Buck had two RBI. Lourdes Bacon, and Brooklyn Lippert scored two runs each.
    Kassidy Giddens pick up the win for ULM with four innings pitched allowing three hits, two runs (one earned) and fanning three batters.

Kiri Parker earns the loss for Alcorn with three innings pitched allowing seven hits, eight earned runs and walking five batters.
Game 2, 1-9

Genise Wells hit a sacrifice fly ball in centerfield to score Miller in the top of the fourth inning for the Lady Braves only run of the game. Miller reached on a triple down the right field line on a 3-2 count.
    Alcorn scored one run on two hits and three errors. Miller and
Paris Thompson went one-of-two at the plate.
    The Warhawks scored nine runs on six hits and no errors. Elle Carter scored one run, went 2-of-3 at bat, and batted three in. Brown scored one run, went 1-of-3 at bat, and batted two runs in. Madison Blount went 2-of-2 at bat, scored a run, and had one RBI. Brown also hit a home run.
    ULM's Maddie Nicholls earns the win with four innings pitched for two hits, one earned run, two walks and fanning seven batters.

Olivia Millers picks up with the loss with 4.1 innings pitched allowing six hits, nine runs (seven earned), five walks, two wild pitches, and one strikeout.
    Alcorn travels to Conyers, Ga. as they compete in the HBCU Invitational. The first game will be against North Carolina Central University on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.
