LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State closed out its home slate in strong fashion on Saturday afternoon, powering past Grambling State 27–16 inside Jack Spinks–Marino Casem Stadium to cap Senior Day with a win and move to 5-6 (4-3 SWAC) on the year.
Alcorn controlled the early stages, answering Grambling's opening field goal with a 10-play, 75-yard march capped by an 8-yard touchdown run from Jacorian Sewell. Reggie Davis extended the lead in the second quarter, punching in a 1-yard score to make it 14–3 as the Braves leaned on their ground game to control tempo.
Davis finished as Alcorn's offensive anchor, rushing 18 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns while adding five receptions for 24 yards. Sewell added 21 yards and a score, and quarterback Jaylon Tolbert delivered an efficient performance, completing 23 of 31 passes for 167 yards while adding 56 yards on the ground.
After Grambling briefly surged ahead 16–14 in the fourth quarter, Alcorn responded with a decisive 11-play, 75-yard drive capped by Davis' second touchdown of the day. The Braves sealed the night on the final snap when Eric Thomas Jr. scooped up a fumble and returned it two yards for a touchdown as time expired.
Tolbert's top target was Jarvis Rush, who hauled in 10 catches for 83 yards. Omarion Blakes added three receptions for 24 yards, while Ja'Coby Matthews contributed two catches for 20 yards and a 36-yard punt return that set up a short field earlier in the contest.
Defensively, Stemarion Edwards once again led the charge with a game-high 15 tackles, including a tackle for loss. TB Hinton added two sacks, and Thomas Jr.'s late fumble return provided the final margin.
The victory sends Alcorn into rivalry week with momentum as the Braves prepare for the Soul Bowl on Nov. 22 in Jackson, closing out the 2025 regular season with one of the most storied matchups in the SWAC.
