NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Alcorn State men's tennis team battled hard but fell 6-1 to the University of New Orleans on Saturday afternoon at the Privateer Tennis Center. The Braves (3-11) secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, but the Privateers (4-2) controlled singles play to claim the win.
DOUBLES
The Braves started strong, winning two of the three doubles matches to take the opening point.
Fabian Juarez and
Emmanuel Cottle delivered a 6-4 victory at the top spot, while
Tomas Grime and
Yangho Park clinched the point with a 6-4 win at No. 3. Nikola Kajic and
David Leon were unable to complete the sweep, falling 6-0 at No. 2.

SINGLES
Despite securing the doubles point, Alcorn was unable to carry the momentum into singles play, as New Orleans swept all six matches. Cottle fought hard at No. 2, taking the opening set before ultimately falling 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Juarez had a competitive showing at No. 3 but was edged in straight sets 6-4, 7-5.
Kajic, Leon, Park, and Grime all fell in straight sets, with Park pushing his second set to a tiebreak before dropping 6-0, 7-6 (7-2).
