BATON ROUGE, LA – Alcorn State softball battled but came up short in a pair of conference matchups on Saturday afternoon at Lady Jaguar Field, falling to Southern University 7-6 in game one and 7-1 in game two. The Lady Braves (10-25, 5-16 SWAC) combined for 13 hits on the day but couldn't overcome key innings by the Jaguars (20-18, 11-7 SWAC), who swept the series to tighten their grip on second place in the SWAC West.

Yahnya Acevedo added four hits on the day, while
Kennedy Terry scored three runs and swiped a base. Alcorn's pitching staff held its own for much of the day, but defensive miscues and timely Southern hitting made the difference.
