Alcorn State Drops Doubleheader at Southern in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA – Alcorn State softball battled but came up short in a pair of conference matchups on Saturday afternoon at Lady Jaguar Field, falling to Southern University 7-6 in game one and 7-1 in game two. The Lady Braves (10-25, 5-16 SWAC) combined for 13 hits on the day but couldn't overcome key innings by the Jaguars (20-18, 11-7 SWAC), who swept the series to tighten their grip on second place in the SWAC West.

Olivia Miller had a standout performance across both games, going a combined 5-for-7 with a triple, home run, and five RBIs. Yahnya Acevedo added four hits on the day, while
Kennedy Terry scored three runs and swiped a base. Alcorn's pitching staff held its own for much of the day, but defensive miscues and timely Southern hitting made the difference.
