NEW ORLEANS, La. – The No. 4 seed Alcorn State men's tennis team saw its 2025 season come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling
4-0 to top-seeded Alabama State in the semifinal round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship Tournament at the City Park Tennis Center.
The Braves (8-18) reached the semifinals following a strong opening-round victory over Southern but were unable to overcome the defending champions in a competitive match that featured several close sets.
DOUBLES
Alcorn picked up a win at the top of the doubles lineup, with
Emmanuel Cottle and Fabian Juarez rolling to a
6-2 victory over Alabama State's top pair. However, the Hornets responded with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the opening point.

SINGLES
Alabama State clinched the match with victories in straight sets at No. 6, No. 2, and No. 4 singles.
Jerry Thomas fell at No. 6 in a
6-0, 6-0 match, while
Juarez and
Grime were also defeated in two sets at their respective positions.
Several matches remained unfinished, including
Cottle's battle at No. 1 where he was in the middle of a third-set push after dropping the first and rallying in the second.
David Leon and
Yangho Park were also in the midst of back-and-forth matchups before play was halted due to the clinch.
