LORMAN, MS – Alcorn State softball wrapped up the 2024-25 season on Sunday afternoon, falling 8-0 in five innings to Texas Southern at the Alcorn Softball Complex. The Lady Braves (11-29, 6-18 SWAC) battled early but couldn't overcome a decisive fourth inning by the visiting Lady Tigers (13-23, 13-11 SWAC).
Olivia Miller paced Alcorn offensively, going 2-for-2 with a pair of singles, while
Paris Thompson and
Sarah Kennedy each added a hit. Despite the loss, the Lady Braves showed resilience at the plate with multiple scoring opportunities but were unable to break through against Texas Southern starter Kaelani Randle, who scattered four hits over five shutout innings.
On the mound, Miller started and allowed three earned runs over three innings before
Alainah Felton and
Ta'Niyah Fletcher closed out the game in relief.

First Three Innings – Tight Start
- Texas Southern opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI double by Lanay Carr to bring home Kylie Wilson.
- Alcorn had a chance to tie it in the bottom of the first when Miller singled and advanced to second on a walk by Mariah Morgan, but a flyout ended the threat.
- Both teams traded scoreless innings in the second and third, with Fletcher and Miller keeping the Lady Tigers' bats relatively quiet.
Fourth Inning – Big Frame for Texas Southern
- Texas Southern capitalized on two Alcorn errors, two walks, and a bases-clearing single by Carr to score seven runs in the fourth inning, extending the lead to 8-0.
- Alcorn responded with three straight singles in the bottom of the fourth by Miller, Thompson, and Kennedy, but couldn't push across a run as a lineout and groundout ended the rally.
Fifth Inning – Closing Out the Game
- Fletcher pitched a clean top half of the fifth, giving Alcorn one more chance to extend the game.
- However, the Lady Braves were retired in order in the bottom half to end the contest via the run-rule.
