LORMAN, Miss. - Alcorn State's very own
Jaylon Burrell has been selected to participate in the 2025 HBCU Swingman Classic, held during MLB All‑Star Week. The prestigious showcase, created by Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr., features the top talent from Division I Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The standout outfielder has been selected to compete in this annual event held during MLB's All-Star Week on Friday, July 11, at Truist Park in Atlanta. The game will air live on MLB Network. The game will showcase the top 50 HBCU baseball players across the nation, and Burrell has earned his spot repping Team American League.
Burrell led the Braves in home runs with five and was second on the team with 32 RBIs with a .393 batting average on 107 at-bats with 42 hits in his 32 games played. Burrell was also tied for second on the team in stolen bases with 16.
From hard work in the offseason to clutch hits during the regular season, Jaylon has been a consistent force for the Braves. His speed on the bases, hustle in the outfield, and presence at the plate have made him a cornerstone of the Alcorn lineup. Now, he's taking that same energy to one of baseball's biggest stages.
The Houston, Texas native is putting in work for his name, his school, and HBCU baseball. Let's celebrate him the way Braves do Loud and Proud.
