Lorman, Miss. – Alcorn State University announced the addition of Kala Blanton as the new Assistant Cheer Coach, bringing a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the Braves cheer program.

A native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Blanton offers more than 10 years of cheerleading experience, including four years as a head coach. Each summer she works closely with local high schools to help cheer coaches strengthen their programs, while also lending her skills as a choreographer and a judge for cheer tryouts across the region.

Blanton is passionate about developing athletes both on and off the mat and looks forward to sharing that commitment with Alcorn's student-athletes.

"Cheerleading is more than the skills you perform — it's the spirit, discipline, and teamwork you carry into every part of life," Blanton said. "I'm excited to bring that energy and expertise to the Braves cheer program."

With Blanton joining the staff, Alcorn State continues to build on its tradition of spirited excellence and support for student-athlete growth.
