Lorman, Miss. - A full slate of competition awaits Alcorn State Athletics as the Braves and Lady Braves take to the courts, tracks, and hardwood for a busy week highlighted by conference basketball action at home and extensive road competition across multiple sports.
The week opens Monday with a split schedule as men's tennis begins its road stretch against Texas A&M–Corpus Christi at 9:00 a.m. in Houston, Texas. Later that evening, men's basketball travels to Daytona Beach, Florida, for a Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup at Bethune-Cookman, tipping off at 6:00 p.m.
Women's tennis continues its early-season run on Tuesday, January 27, with a noon match at McNeese State in Lake Charles, Louisiana, before returning to action Wednesday morning against Texas A&M–Corpus Christi in Houston.
Basketball returns home Thursday night as the Lady Braves host Grambling State at 6:00 p.m. inside the Davey L. Whitney Complex. The matchup marks an important conference contest as Alcorn State continues to defend its home court in SWAC play.
Track and field highlight the weekend with both the men's and women's teams competing in the Robert Platt Invitational in Houston, Texas, beginning Friday morning and continuing through Saturday. The meet provides another strong measuring stick early in the indoor season as the Braves face a competitive field.
Friday also features a busy day for tennis, with both men's and women's teams competing in a series of matches at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi, and Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, Mississippi.
The week concludes Saturday with a home SWAC basketball doubleheader against Southern. Women's basketball tips off at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 3:00 p.m., both at the Davey L. Whitney Complex, as Alcorn State welcomes Braves fans back to Lorman for an afternoon of conference action.
