MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alcorn Women's Tennis opened the second Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Pod event of the 2026 spring season with a 4-0 defeat of Grambling State on Friday morning at Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center in Montgomery, Alabama. The pod is being hosted by Alabama State.

Grambling State (0-1, 0-1 SWAC) was playing its first event of the spring season.

Alcorn (5-14, 2-2 SWAC) opened the match by collecting the top two doubles positions for the early 1-0 lead.

The Braves freshman tandem of
Amelia Tatafu and
Hana Bajramovic defeated Grambling's Ekaterina Dziova and Aaniyah Fyre 6-0 in the top flight. Meanwhile, the Purple and Gold took the No. 2 position on the strength of a 6-0 decision from the duo of
Katherine Grados and
Natalija Nikolic, as they stepped past the Tigers team of Sierra Sonko and Madyson Phillips, respectfully.

In double play, Tatafu made it 2-0 on the day as she led 3-0 in her opening set before Grambling's Dziova was forced to retire.

Bajramovic advanced the Braves lead with a 6-0 win in her first set, followed by GSU's Frye walking over before the start of the second on court two.

The same occurred on court three as Alcorn's
Zoe Crimmel collected a 6-0 win in her opening set, followed by a walkover from the Tigers Sonko prior to the start of the second set.

The Braves continue SWAC Pod #2 play on Saturday when Alcorn faces off against Southern (La.) at noon in Montgomery, Alabama.
