ST. LOUIS – Former Alcorn Football running back Jarveon Howard recently finished the 2026 United Football League (UFL) season as the league's leading rusher, with the regular season coming to a close Sunday, May 31.

Jarveon Howard signed for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the UFL in December 2024. He was an undrafted free agent that spent time with the Green Bay Packers training camp that same summer prior to the beginning of the NFL season.
Â
Across the 2026 campaign, the native of Columbia, Mississippi, led the Battlehawks and the UFL with 458 rushing yards. In all, Howard averaged a league-best 45.8 yards per game, as well as a league-high 4.2 yards per carry. He finished nine yards ahead of Deon Jackson (449 yds) of the DC Defenders, respectfully.
Â
In his first year with the Battlehawks during the 2025 season, Howard recorded 310 total yards on the ground with three touchdowns.
Â
Some of his best games across the 2026 campaign include a 55-yard performance away to the Houston Gamblers – where the Battlehawks won 21-15, in addition to a 59-yard affair in a 25-17 win on the road to the Orlando Storm.
Â
Howard, a transfer from Syracuse where he spent his first two collegiate seasons, played two years at Alcorn (2022-23), registering 2,048 yards and 19 rushing touchdowns for the Braves. For his efforts, he was tabbed a 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) First Team selection. In 2022, he was tabbed the BOXTOROW Newcomer of the Year. He also was named to the Phil Steele All-SWAC Team, in addition to the 2022 All-SWAC First Team.
