Cheerleading Tryout Requirements

We are excited to announce that tryouts for the 2024-2025 season will be hosted via virtual & in-person Rounds. Round 1 will consist of each participant submitting a virtual Highlight Reel followed by in-person rounds that will take place on campus by invitation only. 
 
You must be a full-time Alcorn State student or incoming student with an official letter of acceptance from Alcorn State University. 
The following are required skills for the 2024 Alcorn State University Cheerleading Squad: 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS FOR 2024 

Females 
TUMBLING 
Standing : BHS & Toe Touch BHS AND/OR Tuck & Toe Touch Tuck 
Running:  RO- BHS Series (3) AND/OR  RO- Tuck 

STUNT
Specific stunting requirements for all-girl change yearly. However, the required skill level is a combination of  Level 4 and 5. 

Males
STUNT
Toss to hands; press extension, toss chair , walk in to hands

Tumbling is not required, but encouraged for males

*Once an athlete is selected for the team, the athlete is expected to maintain and advance in skill in order to maintain membership*

Other Requirements for tryouts are as follows:
1.Completed Registration Form by April 5, 2024
2. 2.5 GPA (Students currently enrolled at Alcorn State University/Transfer)
3. Unofficial transcripts (Current & Transfer Students)
4. An acceptance letter upon date of tryouts (Transfers & Incoming freshman)
5.Physician Clearance Form, Sickle Cell Test Results(Both within the last six months),NEGATIVE Covid-19 Test Results(Within five days of tryout)
6. $45 non-refundable tryout application fee submitted to https://secure.qgiv.com/for/asufevents/

*ALL ITEMS IN THIS LIST (with the exception of this digital form) MUST BE PRESENTED UPON ARRIVAL OF THE ALCORN STATE UNIVERSITY CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS.*

Video Reel Requirements 

PHASE I:
Applications and Video Submissions - Due 4/5/2024
Video should be one clip & include a short introduction with your name, stunt position, classification and one chant of your choice.

Incomplete submissions (missing application, video, or, receipt) will not be considered.

The primary role of the Alcorn State University Cheerleading Program is to promote crowd involvement at athletic events and appearances, while being ambassadors for the institution.
