Alcorn alum Asia Thomas was named head cheerleading coach in June 2022.
 
Thomas began cheering in sixth grade and continued throughout all of high school. She has cheerleading in her blood as her mother coached cheerleading at Alcorn State in 1998 and 1999, respectively.
 
Thomas, a native of Natchez, Mississippi, was a four-year member of the Alcorn cheerleading squad from 2015-19. She was named the 2016-17 Alcorn Cheerleader of the Year and served as captain from 2017-19.

 Thomas also has experience as the head cheerleading coach at Jefferson County Junior High School for two seasons.
 
Thomas received her Bachelor’s Degree from Alcorn State University in 2020. Upon graduation, she was the assistant cheerleading coach at Alcorn from 2019 until 2022.
