Alvin Fosselman III

Alvin Fosselman III joins the Alcorn State University football staff for his first season as the Braves' Special Teams Coordinator and Outside Linebackers Coach. A Mississippi native and seasoned tactician, Fosselman brings over a decade of coaching experience across both collegiate and high school levels.

Fosselman most recently spent seven successful seasons at Prairie View A&M University, where he served in multiple roles, including Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator. Under his leadership, Prairie View’s defense in 2024 ranked fourth in the SWAC in scoring defense (22.0 ppg), second in red zone defense, and held opponents to a 36.5% third-down conversion rate. His coaching was instrumental in the development of standout linebacker Ayden Jones, a 2024 Freshman All-American and Jerry Rice Award watch list nominee.

In 2023, Fosselman led PVAMU’s defense to a 6–2 conference record and a SWAC Western Division title. His unit produced three HBCU Legacy Bowl participants, with linebacker Trevion Green earning a minicamp invitation with the New England Patriots. Fosselman himself was selected to coach in the HBCU Legacy Bowl, an honor reserved for elite coaching staffs.

As Special Teams Coordinator in 2022, his units ranked nationally in multiple FCS categories, including 7th in punt return defense, 14th in blocked punts, and 16th in blocked kicks.

Fosselman began his collegiate coaching career at Prairie View in 2018 on the offensive side before transitioning to defense, where he consistently developed some of the SWAC’s top linebacker talent, including Storey Jackson and Tre’Shaud Smith.

Prior to his college coaching career, Fosselman made a significant impact as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Wilkinson County High School in Mississippi, where he mentored several future Division I standouts and produced some of the most explosive offenses in the region.

A former student-athlete himself, Fosselman played at Southwest Mississippi Community College and Southern University. The Wilkinson County native holds a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Southern and a Master’s degree in Physical Education from Prairie View A&M.

Fosselman is married to LaTessia Fosselman, and they have three children: Kaelin, Amiyah, and Alysha.
