Leroy Frederick enters his second season as the tight ends coach for Alcorn State Football, bringing a wealth of experience and a versatile coaching background to the Braves staff. He previously served as the team’s wide receivers coach for three seasons and as director of football operations for five seasons, also acting as the program’s NFL liaison.
Frederick originally joined the Alcorn staff in 2014 as the wide receivers coach, helping guide the Braves to a SWAC Championship and HBCU National Championship that season. From 2018 to 2020, he coached cornerbacks and contributed to two SWAC titles and Celebration Bowl appearances. In 2021, he transitioned back to offense while continuing his role in operations.
Before his time at Alcorn, Frederick was the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Stillman College in 2015, where he led an aerial attack that ranked second in the SIAC in passing and featured the conference’s second-leading receiver. His earlier coaching stops include Pearl River Community College (2007–2011), where he mentored multiple All-Americans and produced four receivers with 40+ catches in a season, and Hutchinson Community College (2004–2007), where his offense helped win the Heart of Texas Bowl.
Frederick began his collegiate coaching career in 2001 at Fort Scott Community College as wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator, producing six all-conference players and a junior college All-American.
A former professional athlete in the CFL and Arena Football League, Frederick is a Florida native and resides in Mississippi with his wife Pam, two sons, Jalen and Alex, and daughter, Angel.
