Adam Braswell is set to begin his second year at Alcorn as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball squad under Head Coach Jake Morton during the 2026-27 season. In a short time on “The Reservation,” the New Jersey native has quickly established himself as a top recruiter and tactical coach built for player development and team success.
For Braswell, his basketball journey began as a student-athlete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) at Morgan State in Baltimore, Maryland, where he played under veteran head coach Todd Bozeman. He would play for the Bears three years before finishing his career and eventually graduating from Florida Memorial in Miami, Florida.
Before arriving to Alcorn, Braswell served under Head Coach Jorge Fernandez at Miami Dade College in Miami, with Fernandez having previously worked with Morton in their time together at the University of Miami in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). In his two seasons at Miami Dade College (2003-05), Braswell was instrumental in developing five (5) all-conference performers, four Division 1 signees, with the addition of one player going to play professionally in Europe. As a group, the Sharks appeared in two FSCAA State Tournaments.
The 2024-25 season saw the Sharks take down a pair of nationally ranked opponents, while going on to post 19 wins. That same year, MDC advanced to the quarterfinals of the quarterfinals of the FSCAA Tournament, defeating No. 2 seed Chipola College along the way. The season also saw Braswell coach and develop three all-conference players, two of whom were voted to the 2024-25 all-tournament team.
Before joining MDC, Braswell was a graduate assistant at St. Thomas University in Miami during the 2022-2023 season. During that season, he helped the Bobcats finish with an impressive 26-8 overall record, including a 16-1 mark at home. The team also reached the “Sweet 16” of the NAIA national tournament for the first time in school history. Across the campaign, Braswell contributed to player development, implemented defensive strategies, led pre-game and pre-practice routines, and managed strength and conditioning workouts.
Braswell also served as an assistant coach at Dade Christian School during the 2022-2023 season. Under his leadership, the team achieved an overall record of 23-6 – the most wins in school history. The Christian Warriors were ranked as high as No. 8 in the FHSAA Class 2-A during the campaign. Due to Braswell’s guidance, three out of five seniors from the Christian Warriors squad received scholarships to play collegiately upon graduation.
Prior to his time at Dade Christian School, the Burlington Township High alum served as head coach at Champagnat Catholic School, where he significantly impacted the program. He turned the program around, guiding the Lions to achieving 10 additional wins from the previous year for one of the best turnarounds in Miami-Dade high school history for smaller schools. Braswell helped direct five out of six seniors from the team to secure college basketball opportunities after graduation.
From 2020 to 2023, Braswell served as Director and Head Coach of TeamMe AAU Basketball, overseeing the 16-U and 17-U squads. In just three years, 10 players from the program advanced to play on the collegiate level.
To date, Braswell is still the third-highest scoring player in Burlington Township basketball history, registering 1,465 points under Head Coach Jay Flanagan.
After graduating from Florida Memorial, Braswell immediately enrolled at St. Thomas University for his postgraduate work, earning his master’s degree in Ethics and Leadership in May 2025.
