Angel Brooks-Thomas was named the Athletic Academic Advisor for Alcorn State Athletics in May 2023. In this role, she works alongside the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services to support the growth and development of student-athletes by creating individualized educational plans that align with their academic, athletic, and personal life goals. Since assuming her position, Brooks-Thomas has implemented a variety of life skills initiatives designed to prepare student-athletes for success beyond the classroom and playing field, including workshops on financial literacy, career readiness, personal branding, leadership, and time management. She has also partnered with campus departments and external organizations to provide student-athletes with professional development opportunities, networking experiences, and community engagement projects. A two-time graduate of Alcorn State, Brooks-Thomas earned her bachelor’s degree in education in the spring of 2018 and her master’s degree in NCAA Compliance and APR in the fall of 2020. During her time as a student, she was actively involved in the athletics department, serving in multiple capacities with the men’s basketball team and as a work-study student. A native of Natchez, Mississippi, Brooks-Thomas is married to former Braves football student-athlete Jalen Thomas, and they are the proud parents of two sons, A’siah and Axen Thomas.
