Alcorn Director of Athletics E. D’Wayne Robinson has announced the appointment of Marques Dantzler to the Alcorn Athletics staff in the role of Associate Athletic Director of Compliance, announced Monday, April 20.
In his assigned role, Dantzler will be responsible for the direction, coordination and maintenance of a comprehensive compliance program and managing in accordance with Alcorn State University, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and NCAA rules, regulations, and procedures. He will serve as the liaison for Alcorn Athletics to the NCAA Eligibility Center as well as university legal and Alcorn State legal counsel on administrative matters for the department. He will also work closely with units across campus to develop policies and procedures that ensure institutional, conference, and NCAA compliance.

Dantzler, a proven commodity in the field of athletics compliance on the Division I level of intercollegiate athletics, arrives to Alcorn from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas. He served four years as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration for the Vaqueros.
A seasoned collegiate athletics administrator with more than two decades of experience in NCAA compliance, Dantzler majored in finance and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business at Auburn in 2000. He initially went to work as a bank examiner for the State of Alabama Banking Department before moving to Buffalo, New York, to earn his Master of Science in Sport Administration at Canisius and work at Buffalo State.
Dantzler began his compliance career at Troy University before moving to the University of Michigan as an Assistant Compliance Coordinator. He then served as Director of Compliance at the University of Oklahoma, one of the nation's premier Division I athletic programs. From there, he held progressive leadership roles at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the University of the Incarnate Word, Alabama A&M University, Chicago State University, and Manhattan University before most recently serving as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Administration at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Throughout his career, Dantzler has consistently served as the primary institutional contact with the NCAA and various athletic conferences, led rules education initiatives, and played a key role in the general administration of athletic departments. He has demonstrated expertise in academic performance compliance, policy development, and conference committee leadership, including serving as Chair of the Western Athletic Conference Compliance Administrators group during his tenure at Chicago State.
A graduate of the NCAA Pathway Program and participant in the NACDA Senior Administrator Mentoring Academy, Dantzler is an active member of the National Association of Athletics Compliance, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, and the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association.
