LADY BRAVES COME BACK TO BEAT UAPB

Alcorn State junior guard Kiara Ruffin scored 21 of her total of 29 points in the last half as she and Carolinsia Crumbly led the Lady Braves to a come-from-behind  77-67 SWAC win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday in Alcorn State, Ms.

The win sent ASU up to 4-11 overall and evened their SWAC mark at 3-3. The Golden

Lioness fell to 0-16 overall and 0-5 in the SWAC.


The Lady Braves trailed 34-22 at halftime but out scored UAPB 55 to

33 in the last half to emerge with the win. Besides Ruffins double digit scoring

in the last half, Crumbly tallied 12 in this 20 minutes of play and Renelle Richmond  nine.  Besides the 29 of Ruffin, Richmond scored 19 and Crumbly 15. Sharnika Breedlove had 10 rebounds as ASU out rebounded UAPB 38-26.

For UAPB, Jasmine Abrams scored 16, Chigoziany Okwumabua led them with 18

and Jenise Gentry scored 12.


The Lady Braves, who got five three pointers from Meridian native Ruffin  in the

contest, faces Alabama A&M Saturday in Huntsville, Alabama at 4PM in another SWAC matchup.
