Braves Snap Four Game Losing Streak

The Alcorn State Braves snapped a four game losing streak by beating the Southern University Jaguars 70-63 at Alcorn State Saturday night.  The win sent the Braves up to 2-17 overall and 2-7 in SWAC play as they battle to keep their chances alive of making the SWAC tournament. They will host Jackson State on February 5, 2011 at 4:30 in the Davey Whitney Athletic Complex.

         

Marquis Baker had his second straight superb game, leading the Braves with 21 points. Kendrick McDonald chipped in with 8 and Michael Starks tallied 7. 

 

 Julius Ingram led Southern with 21 points and three others scored in double figures.  Blake Sanford had 13 and Neal Webb and Quinton Doggett had 11 each.  The Jaguars dropped to 3-6 in the SWAC and 4-17 overall.

 

 ASU led 27-24 at halftime and exchanged buckets with the Jaguars the entire last half.
