Alcorn State, MS—Alcorn State Lady Braves will open their 2011-2012 season on the road against Southern Methodist University today. Tip-off is set for 12 PM at the Moody Colliseum.
Coach Edwards is returning for her fourth season as Head Coach for the Lady Braves. Last season, Edwards was named SWAC Coach of the Year. The Lady Braves are returning the majority of the squad and were selected to finish third in the 2011-2012 Season. The squad contains three seniors, six juniors, three sophomores and three freshmen. During the 2010-2011 season, Ruffin captured the Player of the Year title. Returning starters include
Kiara Ruffin and
Sharnika Breedlove. Both Breedlove and Ruffin were named to the SWAC's Pre-season First Team while Ruffin was also named the conference's Co-Player of the Year.
