ALABAMA BASEBALL SHUTS OUT BRAVES 11-0 TO OPEN 2011 SEASON
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Tide kicked off the 2011 season with an 11-0 win over the Alcorn State Braves, Friday night at The Joe.
Alabama starter Adam Morgan (1-0) shined in the opener, going 5.1 innings and fanning six, three of which were looking. Following a walk to the first batter of the game, Morgan retired 13 consecutive batters before allowing a hit to Kenny Rowan in the top of the fifth inning, the only hit the Braves would get off him.
On the offensive side, Josh Rosecrans, Brock Bennett and Jared Reaves shined for the Tide. Rosecrans went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Bennett went 2-for-3, belting two doubles with an RBI and two runs. Reaves went 2-for-4 on the night, crossing the plate three times himself. All together, the Tide accumulated 11 hits for the night.
The Tide continues its series with Alcorn State tomorrow afternoon with UA sending LHP Nathan Kilcrease to the hill to face off against Alcorn State RHP Troy Williams. The game is slated for a 2:05 p.m. CT start at The Joe.
