Alcorn State, MS—The Braves were handed their sixth SWAC loss in a heartbreaker by Alabama A&M.
 
The Braves came out on fire posting a lead by as many as 18 points over the Bulldogs. 
 
In the final two minutes before the half, Alabama A&M was able to score key buckets and cut the Braves lead to six.  Alcorn State was a blazing 5-7 from downtown in the first half. 
 
Alcorn State led the Bulldogs at the half, 36-30.
 
Second half play was very crucial for the Braves as the Bulldogs flexed their scoring muscles and took the lead halfway through the game.  Alabama A&M was able to manage the lead until 
Twann Oakley's three gave the Braves a one point lead with .11 seconds left.  A foul by 
KeDorian Sullivan sent the Bulldogs' Canty to the charity stripe where he banked both free throws, snapping Alabama A&M's three game losing streak.
 
Alcorn State shot 51.0% from field goal range while hitting 8 of 13 (61.5 %) at the free throw line. 
 
Anthony Nieves and Casey Canty of Alabama A&M led all scorers with 17 points apiece. Ken McDonald and 
Twann Oakley were the other Braves in double figures with 12 and 11 points each.
 
The Braves will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to face the Jaguars of Southern University on Saturday, January 28, 2012.  Tip-off is set for 4:00 pm at the F.G. Clark Activity Center. Fans can listen live on WPRL 91.7 FM and www.alcornsports.com.
