Prairie View, TX—The Braves fell to 0-2 in SWAC play as they were defeated 55-47 by Prairie View.
Alcorn State got off to an early start commanding the lead for most of the first half. The momentum changed as Prairie View's Montrael Scott lay-up at the 6:36 mark gave the Panthers a one point lead. PV held on to their lead and the Braves trailed at half-time by a score of 30-20.
The Braves started slow during the second half but chipped away at the Panthers lead and came within one of Prairie View.
The Braves shot 29.3% from field goal range while hitting 12 of 20 (60.0 %) at the free throw line. Alcorn State was out-rebounded 48-42 and were 7 for 10 (70.0 %) from downtown.
Xavian Rimmer led Alcorn State with 14 points and Ken McDonald chipped in 10 points in the Braves loss.
