Prairie View, TX—The Lady Braves improved to 2-0 on the SWAC season as they defeated the Lady Panthers of Prairie View, 59-54.
Alcorn State trailed early on but
Kiara Ruffin's layup at the 10:51 mark gave the Lady Braves their first lead of the game and they never looked back.
The Lady Braves led at the half by a score of 23-18.
Alcorn State continued to dominate during the second half scoring thirteen points off turnovers and twelve from the bench.
The Lady Braves shot 39.2% from field goal range while hitting 12 of 16 (75.0 %) at the free throw line. Alcorn State was out-rebounded 43-36 and were 7 for 10 (70.0 %) from downtown.
Kiara Ruffin led Alcorn State with 19 points and
Renelle Richmond added 18 to the Lady Braves win.
