Alcorn State, MS--The Lady Braves won their third straight game as they defeated Jackson State, 53-51.
The Lady Braves took the lead early in the first half and held the Lady Tigers at bay for the first half. Alcorn State held a three point lead over Jackson State at the half, 29-26.
Alcorn State's lead in the second half soon dwindled as the Lady Tigers took the lead as Mar'chetta Parker's lay-up gave J-State a one point lead. Alcorn and Jackson State would trade shots to hold the lead before Alcorn State pulled away with a 53-51 victory.
Alcorn State shot 39.6% from field goal range while hitting 7 of 11 (63.6 %) at the free throw line. The Lady Braves were out-rebounded by Jackson State 34-24 and were 7 for 11 (47.1 %) from downtown.
Tierro Frost led all scorers with 21 points as Kiara Ruffin added 12 to Alcorn State's win.
