Box Score Fayetteville, AR-Second-chance points hurt the Braves in tonight's loss against Arkansas. The Razorbacks took over the first half and never looked back defeating the Braves 97-59 at the Bud Walton Arena.
After trading baskets with the Razorbacks in the first five minutes of the first half, the Braves were sitting in a comfortable position only down 12-10 with 14:53 remaining in the first half. The Razorbacks would extend their lead after a jump shot by Jacorey Williams. But the Braves would fight back with a layup by
Tyrel Hunt which cut the lead to 31-21 at the 7:20 mark.
Razorbacks forward, Marshawn Powell knocked down a couple of jumpers to close the first half with a 22-3 run with the Braves trailing 53-24.
Junior forward Coty Clarke took over for the Razorbacks scoring eight second half points to help the Razorbacks maintain the lead. Leantwan Luckett tried to keep the Braves scoring 13 second half points but it wasn't enough to close the gap.
The Braves were outrebounded on the offensive glass 24-11.
Leantwan Luckett led the Braves with 20 points.
Anthony Nieves and freshman Hunt chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively.
The Razorbacks were led by Marshawn Powell racking up 18 points and Coty Clarke finished with 14.
The Braves are back in action Dec. 17 as they travel to Philadelphia, PA to face Temple University. Tip-off is at 6pm.
