Lady Braves Record Season-Low in loss to Kentucky

Lexington, KY-The Alcorn State Lady Braves basketball team were held to their lowest point total of the season.  The Lady Braves were handed their ninth loss of the season, 90-23 to No. 7-ranked Kentucky.

From the opening tip, the Lady Wildcats controlled the tempo for the entire game jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first three and half minutes.  A minute later senior guard Carolinsia Crumbly put the Lady Braves on the scoreboard with a layup after forcing a steal on the defensive end.  From there the Lady Braves were outscored 40-8 going into the half with Kentucky leading 45-10.

Kentucky continued where they left off in the second half going on a 27-0 run to extend the lead to 71-11.  Once again Crumbly would finally get the Lady Braves on the board in the second half with a layup making the score 71-13.  The Lady went almost 13 minutes without scoring a single point.

Crumbly and Tierro Frost led the Braves with seven points a piece.  Not a single Lady Brave scored in double-figures in tonight's game and there's was only one assist accumulated for the Lady Braves.

Kentucky had five players in double figures led by Samarie Walker who had a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds.  Bria Goss added 18 points for the Lady Wildcats.

Head coach Tonya Edwards and her Lady Braves turn their attention to the defending SWAC champions, Prairie View in their conference opener on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.  Both teams were in the SWAC Championship game last year.  Tip-off is at 5:30pm.
