Alcorn State, MS—
Kiara Ruffin scored 21 points while
Carolinsia Crumbly and
Tierro Frost scored in the double digits as Alcorn State routed the Lady Golden Lions, 80-63. The first half included five scoring ties and three lead changes as the both teams attempted to gain the upper hand.
Alcorn took an eight point lead into the locker room at the half.
In the second half of play, the Lady Braves extended their lead by as many as 17 points. UAPB's efforts to contain the Lady Braves' scoring were not strong enough. Senior
Kiara Ruffin drained 3 shots from downtown in the second half to guide the Lady Braves to their second straight win.
The Lady Braves scored 20 points off turnovers while the Lady Golden Lions scored five off of Alcorn State turnovers. Alcorn's bench added 21 points in the Lady Braves' win.
UAPB was led in scoring by Chigozianyi Okwumbua with 20 points. Jazmyne Victorian added 18 points and 10 rebounds to the Lady Golden Lions loss
Alcorn State will travel to Montgomery, Alabama to face the Lady Hornets of Alabama State on Saturday, February 18
th. Tipoff time is set for 3 pm in the Joe L. Reed Acadome.
