Alcorn State, MS--The Braves snapped a two game losing streak as they defeated Southern, 60-40.
The Braves got on the boards early with key shots from Ken McDonald,
Twann Oakley,
Anthony Nieves and
Ian Francis. Alcorn State built a powerful lead and continued to put pressure on Southern leading by as much as 14 points in the first half.
Alcorn State held a six point lead at the half, 29-23.
The Braves continued to dominate in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 21 points.
Xavian Rimmer's two perfect shots from downtown could not be answered by the Jags defense. Alcorn State never looked back as they cruised to an easy win over the Jags.
Alcorn State shot 45.5% from field goal range while hitting 15 of 22 (68.1 %) at the free throw line. The Braves out-rebounded the Tigers 25-21 and were 5 for 7 (71.4 %) from downtown.

Twann Oakley led all scorers with 17 points while Ken McDonald and
Anthony Nieves chipped in with 11 points apiece in the Braves victory.
