Alcorn State, MS---The Lady Braves dropped their third straight game losing to Southern University, 35-32.
Alcorn State and the Jags would have 5 ties and 2 lead changes during the first half of play as both teams were plagued with missed shots and turnovers.
Southern took a one point lead into the locker room, 17-16.
The Jags started the second half scoring off free throw shots by Jamie Floyd. Alcorn State battled back by going on an eight point run. The Lady Braves' went cold half way through the second half as they became locked at 28 points.
Karmeshia Thomas' lay-up at the two minute mark helped tie the game at 30 apiece. Turnovers and missed shots hurt the Lady Braves as Southern swept Alcorn, 35-32.
Alcorn State shot 28.9% from field goal range while hitting 10 of 20 (50.0 %) at the free throw line.
Sharnika Breedlove and
Renelle Richmond led the Lady Braves with seven points apiece. Jamie Floyd, Jasmine Jefferson and Kendra Coleman led the Jags with eight points each.
