Alcorn State falls to Jackson State, 76-55

Missed rebounds and turnovers plague Lady Braves

Jackson, MS—The Lady Braves dropped their second game in a row falling two arch-rival Jackson State.
 
Alcorn State trailed early on allowing the Lady Tigers to build as much as a 23-point lead.

The Lady Braves fell behind early and could never get a handle of scoring as Jackson State went on a 16 point run late in the first half.
 
The Lady Braves took a twenty point deficit in the locker room with a score of 34-14.
 
Late in the second half the Lady Braves went on an eight point run to get within 13 of Jackson State.  However, the Lady Tigers' Rachel Jones banked a three which gave the Jackson State the leverage they needed to continue to push them over Alcorn State.  Sophomore guard, Tierro Frost came up big during the second half scoring all 17 points to help get the team back in the game.
 
Alcorn State shot 31.8% from field goal range while hitting 11 of 16 (68.8 %) at the free throw line.  The Lady Braves were 2-15 (13.3%) from downtown.
 
Tierro Frost led Alcorn State in scoring with 17 points while Kiana McCarty of Jackson State was the game's leading scorer with 22 points.
 
The Lady Braves will travel to Grambling, Louisiana to take on the Grambling State Lady Tigers on Monday, February 6, 2012.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm and fans can listen live on WPRL 91.7 FM and www.alcornsports.com.
